24/7 Emergency Response

Controlled entry

Electronic Access Control

Access control is only as strong as the doors it is fitted to — which is why we look at both together.

Electronic access control replaces mechanical keys with credentials you can issue, audit and withdraw. For commercial and industrial sites it also allows different access rights for staff, contractors and deliveries across the same building.

Access Opening Solutions installs and maintains access control across Dublin, integrated with the steel doors, shutters and gates we also service — so responsibility for the whole opening sits with one contractor.

System components

Readers and credentials

Fob, card, keypad and mobile credentials, with lost credentials removed from the system immediately.

Locking hardware

Maglocks, electric strikes and motorised locks selected for the door type and escape requirements.

Controllers and software

Standalone door controllers through to networked systems with central administration.

Door entry and intercom

Audio and video entry for reception-controlled or unmanned entrances.

Escape and fire interface — the part that is often missed

  • Escape routes must open without a credential; green break-glass and emergency release must be provided where required
  • Locking on escape doors must fail safe on fire alarm activation
  • The fire alarm interface must be tested, not assumed, after any change to either system
  • Door position monitoring highlights doors left open or propped
  • Access records help investigate incidents but must be handled in line with data protection obligations

Practical uses on commercial sites

  • Restricting plant rooms, server rooms and stock areas to authorised staff
  • Time-limited contractor access without issuing physical keys
  • Separate delivery access to a yard or goods door without opening the whole building
  • Removing the cost and disruption of re-keying after a lost key or staff change
  • Linking vehicle gates and pedestrian doors to a single credential

Service and support

  • Faults diagnosed across the whole opening: reader, controller, lock, power supply and door alignment
  • Battery and power supply checks on backed-up systems
  • Credential administration support and system health checks during maintenance visits
  • Upgrades where obsolete panels or readers can no longer be supported

Questions we are asked

Electronic Access Control — FAQs

Can access control be fitted to our existing doors?

Usually, provided the doors and frames are sound and escape requirements can be met. We assess the doors first — a poorly aligned door will cause constant lock faults.

What happens in a power cut?

Systems are designed with appropriate fail-safe or fail-secure behaviour and battery backup so escape is never compromised.

Can we control gates and doors with the same fob?

Yes. Vehicle gates and pedestrian doors are commonly run from the same credential set.

Do you support systems installed by others?

In many cases yes. We will assess the existing equipment and tell you honestly if it can no longer be supported.

24/7 Emergency Response

Access control fault or new installation?

We cover the door, the lock and the system together rather than leaving you between two contractors.
